Members of SADARS will be activating the special event callsign GB4WAB from Tackeroo Caravan Park, Cannock Chase, Staffordshire to celebrate 40 years of Worked All Britain.

We will be setting up on Friday morning from around 9 am and will be operating untill around 10am on Sunday morning.  We plan to be active on VHF, HF and LF bands as conditions and operator avalibility allow.  There will also be a family BBQ on Saturday at 12:30.

This year we will be setting up two HF stations and a VHF station and due to the excelent location on Cannock chase, we are expecting to make hundreds of contacts over the weekend.  Pile-ups are likley so please be patient and keep trying.

Please visit us again soon and take a look at our galley page where you will see many photos of the event and more details about what we did.  Our current operating bands will be posted at the top of this page if we have internet access.

If you hear us on the air please call in, dont forget to give us your WAB square.  The WAB square comprises of the first four charaters of your OS grid reference e.g. SJ91, this is different to the locator square!

Stan, G0BYA runs GB2CW PDF Print

A message from Stan, G0BYA

Hello all,
After a short break GB2CW will again be on the air. The licence for GB2CW is issued to the RSGB by OFCOM and has strict guidlines which I have to observe.

The aim of GB2CW is not to teach the morse code,( this is best done by other programmes such as 'Just learn morse code' etc.), but to enable the listener to to hear and copy CW over the air at various speeds.

The sessions will be on Tuesdays at the following times. 1915 hrs. local. on 145.250 MHz.  then at 2015 hrs. local on 3.550 MHz.

Operation on 145.250 MHz is by F2A/F3E.  This means that the morse is sent using an oscillator and the readback using voice on FM. The text for this session will be taken from a current issue of 'RADCOM'. GB2CW cannot be used for 2 way communication so at the end of the session I will revert to my own callsign and call for any brief reports.

Operation on 3.550 will be A1A only. I will use the same text as on the 1915 hr. broadcast. I will then close the session by sending CL and QRT and then call CQ GOBYA K so that you can send your callsign for a reply. (get your key out and go as slow as you like).

If you have any questions on the above please give me a call.

Stafford RAYNET Formed PDF Print
Thursday, 30 July 2009 17:18

A few months ago, SADARS invited Mike White, G4HZG to give a talk on RAYNET.  Just a few days later, many members for SADARS were interested in joining a RAYNET group and Stafford RAYNET was formed.  Stafford RAYNET has their own website located at stafford-raynet.org.uk.  Many Stafford RAYNET members are also members of SADARS plus there are other non-SADARS members from the local area.

Take a look at thier website for more information, photos and upcoming events which can all be seen on the new website.
